Why No. 1100 matters
Action Comics has been published since April 1938. Its continuous numbering (“legacy numbering”) was briefly interrupted in 2011 (New 52, a new No. 1) and restored in 2016 with DC Rebirth at No. 957. That keeps the historical count visible — and No. 1100 is the next major counter after the media event of No. 1000 (2018).
Unlike No. 1000 — which celebrated the first U.S. comic book ever to hit the thousand mark — No. 1100 is quieter but still ambitious: Waid and company look forward as much as back, rather than stringing guest covers together.
What the issue covers
DC’s solicit puts Superman front and center: from the debut formula “faster than a speeding bullet” to today’s Super-Family architects. The longer page count (56 vs. the usual ~22) allows multiple story strands — typical of anniversary issues since Nos. 500, 900 and 1000.
The monthly series continued immediately afterward. With No. 1102 (September 9, 2026) the title is deep in the “Kingdom of Zod” crossover — still written by Mark Waid. Details: current issue in the issues overview.
